|About the IMPOSsible Challenge|
It’s all about location, location, location! The Fuse team is exploring the possibilities of a positionally aware inspection tool/sensor for an airplane engine. This tool/sensor would have the ability to report its location at all times within an airplane engine and be extensible to other engines or systems.
This tool/sensor would be used alongside other non-destructive testing (“NDT”) instruments to evaluate the properties of airplane engines without causing damage. This solution is critical to allow for remote physical inspection access to all areas within an airplane engine to conduct a thorough and non-destructive test.
This challenge seeks to develop or identify a positionally aware tool that has the capability of entering very small and sometimes harsh (high temperature) environments to evaluate/inspect airplane engines while reporting its location simultaneously.
